World Mitochondrial Disease Week 2026: Putting Mito on the Map
7 Jul, 2026
We’re delighted to announce the launch of this year’s World Mitochondrial Disease Week theme: “Putting Mito on the Map.”
Members asked for earlier access to key information and campaign materials, and we’re pleased to share everything well ahead of September — including the campaign website, editable assets, and toolkit

Originally developed by The Lily Foundation and generously shared with IMP, “Putting Mito on the Map” focuses on making mitochondrial disease more visible worldwide by amplifying patient voices, strengthening awareness, and connecting communities across borders. The campaign features a new green map pin with a mito graphic, symbolising visibility and unity across the global community.
A central feature of this year’s campaign is the Global Mito Map, an interactive tool showcasing patient stories, organisations, research projects, events, and Light Up for Mito locations. As more pins are added, the map will grow into a powerful visual of the worldwide mito community.
Members can access editable Canva assets, template letters for Light Up for Mito, and additional resources to support local campaigns. We look forward to working with you to bring this global campaign to life.
