Patient‑Focused Drug Development Meeting on POLG

2 Sep, 2026

A Landmark Moment for the POLG Community – 17 November 2026

On 17 November, MitoAction will host its first Patient‑Focused Drug Development (PFDD) Meeting on POLG, bringing the lived experiences of patients and families directly to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This meeting offers a rare opportunity for regulators, researchers, clinicians and industry partners to hear, in detail, what it means to live with POLG disease and where current care and treatments fall short.

PFDD meetings are designed to ensure that patient voice shapes future therapies, clinical trial design and regulatory decision‑making. Through live testimony, polling and written comments, the POLG community will help define what meaningful improvement looks like and which symptoms most urgently need targeted treatment.

Insights from the meeting will be captured in a Voice of the Patient report, shared with the FDA and used by researchers and developers working on new therapies. This event represents an important step toward ensuring POLG patients are heard at the highest levels of drug development.
