IMP Annual Meeting 2026 – Celebrating 15 years
10 Jul, 2026
The International Mito Patients (IMP) Annual Meeting 2026 brought together advocates, clinicians, researchers and partners from around the world to celebrate 15 years of IMP and strengthen collaboration across the global mitochondrial disease community. Held in Angers, France, the meeting highlighted major progress in awareness, research readiness and international advocacy, while reaffirming IMP’s commitment to earlier diagnosis, access to care and patient‑centred research.

19 Delegates from 25 member organisations shared achievements and challenges from their countries, illustrating both the diversity and shared priorities of the mito community. IMP Chair Paula Morandi reflected on a year of growth, including expanded awareness campaigns, strengthened governance and increasing engagement with research and regulatory bodies. Members also heard updates on key initiatives such as World Mitochondrial Disease Week 2026, the Global Mito Map, SIMPATHIC, GENOMIT and the development of the Global Mitochondrial Disease Patient Registry.
Workshops explored regulatory pathways, clinical trials, media engagement and developments in mitochondrial donation, while research presentations highlighted advances in disease mechanisms, consensus‑building and emerging therapeutic approaches. Industry partners contributed perspectives on patient‑centred research and community collaboration.
The meeting closed with a shared commitment to expanding awareness, strengthening research partnerships and amplifying the patient voice as IMP enters its next chapter.
